Binding: Nineteenth-century blind-tooled calf; bound for the Bodleian Library in 1855 at a cost of £0. 10. 0; see Binders' books (1855, Auct. and Rawl.), p. 1, no. 7 (Library Records d. 1203).
Size: 312 × 227 × 25 mm.
Size of leaf: 303 × 210 mm.
On a2v a six-line initial is supplied in blue, with foliate scrolling, on a burnished gold ground, the gilt with punch-dotting, within segmented frames of red, pale green, and grey, defined in yellow; typical south German style of decorated initial. Foliate border extensions in red, blue, green, and pink, and including gold dotting; some pencil strokes of sketch for border still visible. A mirror-image impression of the border has been left on the facing margin. Other initials, some with extensions into the margins or gutter, and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Capital strokes and underlining in red.
Provenance: Augsburg, Bavaria, Canons Regular, Priory, Sancta Crux; inscription on a1r: ‘Sum . . . Sancte Crucis Augustæ'.
