Binding: Contemporary German (Würzburg(?)) blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, two metal catches with stamped leather straps. On both covers are merrythoughts and floral centre-pieces; the spine and leather straps with two different lozenge-shaped fleur-de-lis stamps. Size: 243 × 170 × 74 mm. Size of leaf: 231 × 159 mm. Fragments of a parchment manuscript used as reinforcing pieces. Early running headlines. Marginal notes in a sixteenth/seventeenth-century hand. Most initials are supplied in red; red capital strokes. Provenance: Würzburg, Bavaria, Conventual Franciscans, Inventio crucis/Sancta crux; inscription on [a2r] in a sixteenth/seventeenth-century hand: ‘Fratrum Minorum Conuentualium Herbipolensis', on front pastedown, old shelfmark ‘H. 1.Z'; on upper edge, old shelfmark ‘I.
