  1. B-120(1) First copy Wanting the blank leaf a1. Part of a uniformly bound set of five volumes, all purchased at the Butler sale and probably previously owned by the Cistercians in Valencia. Binding: Quarter parchment over pasteboards, the sides covered with leaves from a fifteenth-century antiphonary; the same manuscript as B‑095, B‑097, B‑101, and B‑121. Size: 409 × 290 × 50 mm. Size of leaf: 407 × 277 mm. Occasional early marginal notes. On u3v a note about the number of gatherings and folios in a sixteenth/seventeenth-century hand: ‘Qui. 24 F 140'; but really 194 leaves. Provenance: Probably Valencia, Cistercians, S.Bernardo; see ownership inscription in B‑121 (Auct. 3Q 3.17); old shelfmark on spine, ‘M II 11', probably from Valencia. Samuel Butler (1774-1839); sale, pt II, lot 233(3). Purchased for £1. 1. 0; see annotated sale catalogue, and Books Purchased (1840), 33. SHELFMARK: Auct. 3Q 3.16.

E. 1. 3; the manuscripts are the two volumes of Conradus Kircher, Concordantiae Veteris Testamenti Graecae, Ebraeis vocibus respondentes (Frankfurt, 1607), apparently rearranged into Greek-Hebrew order by Sir Henry Savile; see SC 3046-7. Bindings (of MSS. Auct. E. 1. 2-3): English (Oxford) 17th-century reversed calf (fillets only); each volume wants one set of ties; pronounced 'yapp' edges, '113' on MS. E. 1. 2, '114' on MS. E. 1. 3; large numbers of parchment index tabs for each volume. Sizes: 383 × 258 × 120/108 mm. Sizes of leaves: 367/370 × 233/240 mm. Provenance: Sir Henry Savile (1549-1622); as stated in Bodleian Pre-1920 catalogue. The manuscripts were apparently acquired between 1634 and 1655; see SC. FORMERSHELFMARKS: Arch.
