  1. B-249(1) Copy Bound in two volumes (Gn–Ps; Prv–Apc). Wanting [q10] and the blank leaf [BB8]. Binding: Both volumes bound uniformly in contemporary German (Dülmen?), blind-tooled calf over wooden boards; upper metal clasp and catch, and lower metal catch only with remains of clasp on both covers; remains of corner-pieces on the second volume only; bosses lost, with the holes visible on both covers of vol. 2; tawed leather index tabs. On both covers double fillets form a double frame; the inner rectangle is divided by double fillets into lozenge-shaped compartments. In the compartments two different stamps: a round eagle and a lozenge-shaped fleur-de-lis; within the outer frame a blind-tooled scroll with the inscription: ‘Ihesus', four stamps with the symbols of the evangelists in each corner, a round flower stamp, and an octagonal lamb-and-flag stamp; for the stamps see Weale–Taylor pl. vii, nos 4, 5 and also no. 95; see also Goldschmidt I 249. Parchment spine labels at the head of the spine of each volume. Size: 320 × 225 × 105 and 312 × 230 × 90 mm. Size of leaf: 308 × 217 mm. Manuscript catchwords. Table of contents on [O1r] in an early hand. Principal initials are supplied in blue or red with pen-flourishing in red or violet with infill in green; other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue; red headings, capital strokes, and underlining. Provenance: Hermann Proninck (†1484); bequeathed the book to a convent; on [a1v] and on [O1v] the inscription: 'Anno do[mi]ni Mcccclxxxiiij decimo die menꞵ Januarij obijt do[mi]nꝯ Hermannꝯ Pronynck vicariꝯ ⁊ mag[iste]r fab[ri]ce eccl[es]ie mon[asterii] qui dedit ⁊ legauit hunc libꝝ conuentui [name deleted] [ordinis] [ ]. Orate fideliter ꝓ a[n]i[m]a eiuſ[dem] ⁊ omnium suoꝝ.' Old shelfmarks ‘A.20' and ‘A.21' on front pastedowns. Weddern, near Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Carthusians, Castrimaria/Castrum Beatae Mariae; heavily erased inscription (apart from the word 'Liber') on the front pastedown of vol. 2: 'Liber [Carthusiensium Mariecastri prope Dulmaniam?]'; partial inscription, also heavily erased on the parchment endleaf of vol. 1, probably has the same/similar wording.
