Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at head of the upper cover; on both covers double fillets form a border; two sets of vertical double fillets separate a narrow and a wide rectangle; a small flower tool in each corner; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Front board nearly detached. Size: 322 × 218 × 85 mm. Size of leaf: 317 × 204 mm. On2 z8v and the recto and verso of the following rear endleaf, tables, in red and black ink, in a fifteenth/early sixteenth-century hand, giving the order of the books of the Bible, and the names of some Medieval commentators for each book. Some marginal notes in Gn, in a seventeenth-century hand. Some notes in English. Occasional pointing hands and underlining in black ink. Partial rubrication only: in Gn some initials and verse numbers are supplied in red. Chapter numbers added in upper margins in black ink. Provenance: Margaret, Lady Capell (fifteenth/sixteenth century); inscription on2 z7v, apparently in the hand of Roger Philpot: ‘Istum librum habemus ex dono m[at]r[on]e mee Margarete Capell, uxoris Willelmi Capell, Armigeri, filie Thome Arundell militis'.
