  1. B-286(1) Copy Wanting O3-4, the place of which is taken by duplicates of O5-6. Binding: Seventeenth-century English calf, with gold-tooled spine. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at head of the upper cover. The gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. The upper cover almost detached. Size: 207 × 155 × 75 mm. Size of leaf: 202 × 143 mm. Occasional early marginal notes, with some in red ink in the spaces left for initials, probably in the hand of Cuthbert Thornell. Spaces left blank, except for a thirteen-line initial ‘I' on a3v, supplied in black ink, with ‘C[uthbert] T[hornell]' initials in red ink. Provenance: W. Webb (fl. c.1500); signature on a1r. Cuthbert Thornell (fl. 1572); signature and initials, both in red ink, on a1r. Arthur Charlett (1655-1722); engraved book-plate with monogram ‘AC' and motto ‘Animus si æquus, quod petis hic est': see Howe, Book Plates, 5614, and Journal of the Ex-Libris Society, III, 71.
