=561 \\$aInc.2.C.1.5[2325]: Provenance: Title recto to all volumes inscribed "Georgius Gardiner" in a sixteenth-century hand, i.e. George Gardiner, who matriculated at Christ's College Cambridge in 1552, BA 1554/5, MA (from Queens' College) 1558, BD 1565 and DD 1569, serving as a Fellow of Queens' from 1557-1561 and Dean of Norwich from 1573; titles to all volumes also inscribed "Samuel Stallon: sperando spiro operando despero", in a sixteenth- or early seventeenth-century hand - presumably the individual who matriculated at Trinity College Cambridge in 1567, taking his BA in 1573/4, MA 1577, Fellow of the college from 1576 and Rector of North Barsham, Norfolk (Gardiner held a number of Norfolk rectories); he died in 1613. Title of volume 3 also inscribed "Thomas Lake" in a sixteenth- or early seventeenth-century hand (there are several possibilities recorded by Venn). From the collection of John Moore, Bishop of Ely.
