On both covers triple fillets form concentric frames; in the outer, a repeated round flower-head tool; in the central frame, a repeated floral tool and, in a panel at head and tail, a floral ornament; in the inner frame, a cresting roll. In the inner rectangle, a floral centre-piece and, at each corner, a small floral tool. Size: 324 × 223 × 80 mm. Size of leaf: 302 × 208 mm. Copious marginal notes. Table of contents on a1r in a contemporary hand. On a2r a nine-line initial ‘Q' is supplied in interlocked red and blue, with extension into the guttering. On both covers intersecting triple fillets form frames. In the outer is a repeated palmette; in the inner are several tools, some too worn for identification, but including a circular rosette(?) stamp, a circular eagle(?) stamp, and a fleuron. Triple fillets form the inner rectangle which is decorated on the upper cover with (worn) circular stamps between curved-outline tools making up merrythoughts; on the lower cover the rectangle is divided by triple fillets into triangular and lozenge-shaped compartments decorated with a fleuron, and with a small floral stamp at the intersection of the fillets, and a circular stamp in the centre. The spine is decorated with the palmette, a fleuron, and a circular stamp, with ‘Lyranus’ at the head of the spine in early black ink. Size: 330 × 234 × 105 mm. Size of leaf: 310 × 224 mm. On P2v 'Spes mea Christus Anno 1606', in the hand which wrote the second ownership inscription.
