Binding: Seventeenth-century English blind-tooled calf; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at head of the upper cover. Both boards detached.
Size: 290 × 210 × 30 mm.
Size of leaf: 288 × 199 mm.
Sheets from Thomas Gianninius, De lumine et speciebus spiritalibus, mente effectrice et speciebus intelligibilibus used as pastedowns: on front pastedown, pp. 193/4 and 199/200; on back pastedown, pp. 103/4 and 105/6; see also the Ferrara edition of 1615 (Bodleian copy: 4° U 18 Art).
On a2r a nine-line initial is supplied in blue and pink with white highlighting on a gold background; floral infill in black and yellow on a green background; some gold dotting in the inner margin. Principal initials are supplied in red or blue with pen-flourishing in blue, red, or violet. See Pächt and Alexander II, 112 no. pr. 99.
Provenance: Unidentified coat of arms on a2r within a (pre-existing) wreath in the lower margin, decorated with gold dotting and floral extensions: tierced in fess, in chief gules a cross argent, in fess azure three indistinct charges argent(?), in base argent fretty sable.
