Binding: Nineteenth-century blind-tooled calf, with a parchment front endleaf formerly used as a pastedown.
Size: 303 × 212 × 31 mm.
Size of leaf: 289 × 194 mm.
A few early marginal and interlinear notes, also scribbles and pen-trials, particularly on [s8v]. On the recto of the parchment front endleaf, a thirteen-line inscription on words relating to payments and debts: ‘Illud beneficium est decumanum . . .’
On [a1r] a seven-line north Italian initial ‘E' is supplied in maroon and pink with white filigree decoration and edged in black, on a ground of gold, red, and green, with foliate decoration in the area defined by the letter, and decoration and extensions into the inner margin, in red and green, edged in yellow, and with gold dots. See Pächt and Alexander II, 114 no. pr. 133. Partial rubrication: occasional initials are supplied in red and capital strokes in red.
Provenance: Como, Lombardy, Augustinian convent; seventeenth-century(?) inscription on verso of parchment front endleaf: ‘Ad usū Conuentus Sti Augustini Comi.'
On s8v an inscription by a schoolboy, Francinus de Michelis: ‘mee franchini de mihelis de p[ ]ulo [ ]ento at scolam magistri pauli de Tercio 1573 die 18 februarij.’
