2. a1v Dionysius Periegetes: De situ orbis: [Translated into Latin verse by] Priscianus. ‘Dionysius latine interpretatus per Fannium.’ Incipit: ‘[I]ncipiens terrae tractus pontique meatus | Et fluvios canere atque urbes populosque per orbem ...’ c7v Explicit: ‘... Et terrae pariter regiones finibus amplis | Omnipotens pro quo genitor mihi praemia donet. Finis. [Hexameters].’ Priscianus' translation has been disputed by humanists such as Ermonalus Barbarus, who believed it had been done by Quintus Fannius Rhemnius (Ermolaus Barbarus, Castigationes Pliniane et in Pomponium Melam, VI 126, I. Pozzi, 1974, p. 513). Blank spaces have been left, between the sections of the poem, likely to host titles and comments. In the copy being catalogued (Perugia, INC 251) those spaces have been completely filled by the very hand of the editor, J. Pomponius Laetus, with corrections, completions, most of all with his own commentary to the main text, starting on a1v with a proper title "Pomponii Laeti interpretatio in Dionysium" and ending on c7v with the words: "preter digna munera premiaque.
