Wanting the blank leaf [i8]; [a1] and [i7] are wanting with the missing text being supplied in pen-and-ink facsimile; this was noted in the Spencer sale catalogue (1821). Binding: Parchment; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Size: 276 × 208 × 36 mm. Size of leaf: 270 × 193 mm. Copious marginal annotations in a number of hands, one contemporary, mainly extracting key words; also underlining in the text. Some early notes in both items in the same hand. Manuscript pagination: 3-164. Epigraphic initials are supplied in blue. Provenance: Boccaccio family, of Florence; coat of arms on [a1r] of item 1: within a wreath, or, a leopard's head sable within a bordure indented of the tinctures, with motto ‘Dii meliora ferant'. Perhaps Luigi Serra, 4th Duca di Cassano (1747-1825); see Catalogo, 41.
