Wanting [b1] containing the opening of the office of the BVM and [y8] containing the colophon. Bound in the following order: calendar [a], ‘officium BVM' [b–k], ‘officium mortuorum' [r–y], ‘psalmi penitentiales', ‘litanie', ‘orationes', ‘officium sancti Spiritus' [m–q], ‘officium sancte Crucis' [l].
Binding: Nineteenth-century calf; bound for the Bodleian Library; ‘68' in white at the head of the spine.
Size: 136 × 90 × 31 mm.
Size of leaf: 128 × 83 mm.
With an autograph letter from Sydney C. Cockerell (1867-1962), dated 18 July 1904, pasted onto the rear endleaf. Manuscript foliation: 1-162.
Four- to six-line historiated initials are supplied in pink on a gold ground edged in black. Some floral borders are supplied in pink, blue, green, and gold (north-eastern(?) Italy); see Pächt and Alexander II, 115 no. pr. 146. Other initials are supplied in gold, some on a red or blue ground edged in black, with the area defined by the letter in blue or red; some with violet or red pen-work decoration; other initials are supplied in blue with red pen-work decoration.
Provenance: Acquired after 1738, possibly from Richard Rawlinson (1690-1755).
