Marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, and pointing hands in two early humanist hands, one certainly Italian, the other probably that of John Forest. 2. J-123(2) Second copy Binding: Quarter parchment over pasteboards, with marbled pastedowns. Size: 218 × 160 × 15 mm. Size of leaf: 210 × 145 mm. Some marginal notes, mainly extracting key words, and ‘nota' marks in an early Italian hand. ‘8' corrected into ‘10' in brown ink on A1r.`650' in pencil on the front endleaf. Manuscript foliation: ‘1-57' on the upper right-hand corner of the rectos. Provenance: Frater Egidius, Milan (sixteenth century); inscription on A2r: ‘S[ ] Marie [ ] Mediolan. Ad usum fratris Egidii c[ ]oci de Sauona . . .' The inscription has been obliterated and altered by another early Italian hand: ‘Studium Marcantonij Dagno(?). Montemoggio. Addi Venti de Marzo ego dominus crea[ ] [ ] [ ] fonte [ ] [ ] [ ] mentouone'; in the lower margin, the same hand has changed another inscription, which now ends: ‘Mattoni Destripol. die 28 octobris 15749.' Unidentified oval stamp on A1r: a crowned eagle surrounded by the inscription: ‘ . . . oggetti d'arte e scienza . . .' George Dunn (1865-1912). Presumably purchased after 1912.
