  1. J-301(1) Copy Wanting the blank leaf [a1], and [i10] containing the register. Binding: Eighteenth-century calf, the spine gold-tooled; marbled pastedowns. Size: 208 × 152 × 17 mm. Size of leaf: 201 × 137 mm. Copious early marginal and interlinear notes, including extensive comments on the text and pointing hands. Partial rubrication: on [a5v] a two-line initial ‘U' is supplied in red; running titles, being the first word of each ‘satyra', and capital strokes supplied in red. Provenance: Luigi Serra, 4th Duca di Cassano (1747-1825); not identified in Catalogo; coat of arms on [i9r]: or, two bars counter compony, argent and gules; see Gelli pl. 160. George John, 2nd Earl Spencer (1758-1834); not in sale (1821). Richard Heber (1773-1833); note on a slip of paper attached to the recto of the front endleaf: ‘The present edition is so scarce that Ld. Sp[encer] had it not till he bought the Duke of Cassano's collection, in which were two copies (the present, wanting the last leaf containing the Register).
