Binding: Contemporary German blind-tooled quarter pigskin over wooden boards, with one metal clasp, and remains of a second, and two catches lost; the outer part of the upper board has been replaced, perhaps in the nineteenth century. On both covers quadruple fillets form a frame. The inner rectangle is divided by further fillets into two rectangular compartments, one each at the head and foot, decorated with a circular fleur-de-lis stamp; between the two rectangular compartments are two vertical strips, the inner one decorated with a repeated knot-work stamp, and the outer with a repeated ‘Maria' scroll stamp. The spine is decorated with the ‘Maria' scroll stamp.
Size: 222 × 151 × 71 mm.
Size of leaf: 208 × 136 mm.
Provenance: Cancelled inscription on a2r, unread under ultraviolet light.
Andreas Sigisfridus (sixteenth century); inscription in red ink on a1r: ‘Ad vsum fratris Andree Sigisfridi theologi et constat [ ] ex testamento emptus est liber iste'.
