Copies:
  1. M-088(1) Copy Colophon on z9v (fol. 181v), first table on z10r (fol. 182r), aa1 (fol. 183) blank, and second table on aa2r (fol. 184r), as Sack, not as BMC. Binding: Sixteenth-century German blind-tooled quarter pigskin, with parchment wrappers from a twelfth/thirteenth-century sacramentary, containing Proprium de tempore Easter readings from Mt 26,55 ff, and with superscript letters ‘c', ‘a', and ‘t'. On both covers fillets form a frame, within which, on the upper cover, is a roll decorated with roundels with heads all'antica, and lattice-work; and, on the lower, an ornamental roll. Paper manuscript labels on the spine, the upper one bearing the name of the author and the title of the book, the lower one (presumably) the shelfmark, but now covered by a Bodleian shelfmark label. The pigskin, which may originally have formed part of an older binding, has been re-glued onto the back of the text-block, and the manuscript wrappers supplied at a later stage, perhaps during the nineteenth century. Size: 170 × 140 × 41 mm. Size of leaf: 170 × 127 mm. Early marginal annotations (many cropped), some apparently by Genckeln (for example, on a6r, and on the recto of the rear endleaf), and ‘nota' marks, also underlining in the text in black ink. On a2r a seven-line southern German (Nuremberg) initial ‘F' is supplied in blue with curling acanthus scrolling in white, on a burnished gold ground, the gilt with punch-dotting, within a segmented frame of red and pale green edged in yellow. Other two- to seven-line initials are supplied in red or blue. Provenance: Johannes Genckeln (fifteenth century); inscription on a1r: ‘Liber magistri Johannis Genckelni d'Elwangen'. [ ], Benedictines; inscription and stamp on a2r: ‘Ex bibliotheca monasterii ordinis S. Benedicti'; no name of a place is given, and the stamp is too faint to be read. Scar and remains of a book-plate on the inside of the upper cover. August Schegk (nineteenth century?); name on the recto of the front endleaf. Purchased in 1885; not identified in Library Bills. SHELFMARK: Auct. 7Q 6.51.
