Further intersecting triple fillets form the inner rectangle, which is divided by fillets into two compartments, each decorated with a foliate and animal panel and bearing round the edge the legend: ‘In nomine domn̄ qui fecit celum et terram. Adiutorium nostrum'. Rebacked, with seventeenth/eighteenth-century gold-tooled calf bearing the title: ‘Confessionalia | Nider lepra moralis' laid down over twentieth-century calf (unread initials and date ‘20.12.41' on the recto of the rear endleaf). Size: 145 × 105 × 60 mm. Size of leaf: 136 × 89 mm. Pastedowns consist of two parchment leaves from a thirteenth-century breviary. Early manuscript signatures, in red ink, partly visible. Paragraph marks and capital strokes are supplied in red. Provenance: Stephanus Zevenharenus (sixteenth century); inscription on a1r of item 1: ‘Fratri Stephano Zeuenhareno ancillatur hic libellus'. It is followed, in two different sixteenth/seventeenth-century hands, by: ‘Modo Conuentui D[ ]ensi' and ‘anathema auferenti'. Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834.
