  1. P-220(1) Copy Binding: Contemporary German blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, with remains of metal clasps and catches; four bosses on each cover lost. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at the head of the lower cover. On both covers intersecting double fillets form a frame, within which is a circular rosette stamp, a circular eagle stamp, a circular dragon stamp, two small flower-petal stamps, a rectangular foliate stamp, and a ‘Maria' stamp. Double fillets form the inner rectangle which is divided by further double fillets into triangular and lozenge-shaped compartments decorated with two circular rosette stamps, an octagonal lamb and flag stamp, a lozenge-shaped foliate stamp, and a lozenge-shaped fleur-de-lis stamp. At the intersection of each set of fillets on the upper cover is one of the small flower-petal stamps. Remains of a paper label at the head of the upper cover. Leather index tabs, dyed red. Spine damaged. Size: 405 × 294 × 103 mm. Size of leaf: 390 × 283 mm. Principal eight- to 15-line initials are supplied in blue with reserved white decoration or interlocked red and blue, within a framework of red pen-work, and decorated with red pen-work and in green, with red pen-flourishes extending into the inner margin; other one- to seven-line initials (some with reserved white decoration) and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue; capital strokes and underlining are supplied in red. Provenance: Inscription of ownership on [a1r] in a sixteenth-century hand, the name of the place or person having been torn away: ‘Liber bibliothecæ . . .'
