1. P-319(1) First copy Binding: Parchment over original wooden boards, with the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers. Formerly chained: staple-marks of a hasp at head of upper cover. Size: 290 × 220 × 70 mm. Size of leaf: 283 × 205 mm. Several marginal and interlinear notes in a number of early English hands, mainly extracting key words, classical quotations, personal names, and sentences. On qq8v the manuscript copy of a letter of condolence from the Pope (Sixtus IV) to Cecily, Duchess of York, on the death of her son, Edward IV (1483). On rear endleaf a number of quotations in early English hands. On a2r a four-line initial ‘E' is supplied in red on a red and green ground decorated with white pen-work decoration; from the letter spring two foliate stems ending with a rose. Other initials, sometimes with reserved white decoration, are supplied in red; paragraph marks and capital strokes in red. Provenance: Acquired by 1738; see Fysher, Catalogus, II 559 with shelfmark: CC 90 Art (`90' in brown ink across the fore-edge); also on a2r. SHELFMARK: Auct. 1Q 3.4.
2. P-319(2) Second copy Binding: Limp parchment, with manuscript title along the spine, ‘N. 1601' at head, ‘5187' on a small rectangular paper label at tail of the spine. Size: 287 × 225 × 60 mm. Size of leaf: 287 × 212 mm. Pastedowns consists of two parchment leaves from a fifteenth-century Netherlandish(?) Missal. Initials, chapter heading underlining, and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capital strokes in red. Provenance: Albert Ehrman (1890-1969); purchased from Feisenberger and Gurney Ltd in 1950, for £72. Presented in 1978 by John Ehrman. SHELFMARK: Broxb. 17.2.
