  1. R-086(1) Copy Wanting [q10,11], also [a1], probably blank. Binding: Eighteenth-century gold-tooled red morocco. Gilt-edged leaves, marbled pastedowns, and green silk bookmark. Size: 270 × 213 × 30 mm. Size of leaf: 265 × 185 mm. Manuscript guide letters and a few ‘nota' marks in an early hand in light brown ink. ‘B. J. D. B. | R. F.' in pencil on the verso of the front endleaf. ‘No. 491. P.' also in pencil on the same leaf, deleted. A ‘Registre pour collationer le Speculum vitae humanae . . .' providing the first few words of each folio of each gathering, in a seventeenth-century(?) French hand on a paper leaf attached to the front endleaf. ‘No. 50' (or 509) in brown ink on the upper margin of the rear endleaf. On [a2r] and [k1r] large initials are supplied in interlocked red and blue, the former with brown pen-work decoration in the shape of a human face. Other initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red or blue. Provenance: Paul Girardot de Préfond (†after c.1800); on the front pastedown, a small label of red leather stamped in gold: ‘Ex musæo Pauli Girardot de Prefond'.
