Binding: Eighteenth-century (Netherlandish or French?) gold-tooled red morocco; gilt title on a black leather label on the spine; the gold stamp of the Bodleian Library on both covers; gilt-edged leaves; marbled pastedowns; watermark on the endleaves reads ‘Pro Patria GR'. Size: 281 × 187 × 25 mm. Size of leaf: 269 × 175 mm. ‘936' on verso of front endleaf; cf. ‘936' in S‑025. On A2r a six-line Italian epigraphic initial ‘O' is supplied in gold on a square blue ground with white pen-work; within the body of the initial a fleuron design painted in red and gold, surrounded by green with yellow pen-work; foliate extensions in red, green, and blue, with gold dots, in the inner and upper margins; see Pächt and Alexander II, 108 no. pr 46. In the lower margin a coat of arms: azure, a lion rampant or, encircled with a gold band is inserted within a lozenge-shaped white vine-stem border on a blue, green, and red ground with gold dots. On C3r a six-line initial ‘F' in the same style is supplied in gold on a square ground of green and red with yellow pen-work, and blue with white pen-work.
