1. [a1r] Abstemius, Laurentius: [Letter addressed] to Octavianus Ubaldinus, Prince of Mercatelli. Incipit: ‘[N]otus communi studiosorum utilitate, tum hortatu tuo, Princeps illustris . . .’ Abstemius introduces himself as editor of the Servian works in the volume. This edition is a reprint of the one printed in Cagli by Robertus de Fano and Bernardinus de Bergamo, 15 Oct. 1476 (H 14709); see P. Casciano, ‘Il Servius viterbese (H. 14710), Ottavio Cleofilo e Lorenzo Astemio', in Cultura umanistica a Viterbo: Atti della Giornata di studio per il V centenario della stampa a Viterbo, 12 novembre 1998, ed. T. Sampieri and G. Lombardi (Viterbo, 1991), 153-62, at 155 Casciano suggests that this edition was commissioned from the unknown printer by Franciscus Octavius de Fano, known as Cleophilus (†1490), who was the teacher of the Comune of Viterbo 1486-9, and a friend of Robertus de Fano.
