Copies:
  1. S-271(1) Copy Several lines of text are omitted at the foot of s3v. Two woodcuts, apparently from a copy of another edition of the Speculum, have been inserted between o3v and o4r; given that they have wider printed borders, they probably come from a copy of Spiegel menschlicher behaltnuss, printed at Basel by Bernhard Richel in 1476 [S‑272, see below]; see also note in BMC VIII p. 259. Binding: Nineteenth-century blind-tooled calf, with earlier gold-tooled spine laid on. Gilt-edged leaves. Size: 330 × 245 × 35 mm. Size of leaf: 320 × 224 mm. Some of the folio numbering has been corrected in an early French hand in brown ink. Occasional corrections and some scribbles on y8r in the same hand. An inscription just below the title on a1r has been deleted. Bibliographical notes by Douce on slips of paper pasted to the front endleaf. Initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capital strokes in red. Provenance: St-Bernard-sur-l'Escault, Hemiksem, Belgium, Cistercians; inscription on a2r: ‘Bibliothecae Loci S. Bernardi'. Francis Douce (1757-1834); armorial book-plate. Bequeathed in 1834. SHELFMARK: Douce 288.
