Binding: Sixteenth-century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards, with oval armorial stamp (much worn) and surrounding inscription, only partially legible: ‘ . . . S. Mathiae Wratisl. domini ac reuerendi et nobilis viri d. Joannis Henze a Blankenburg . . .' Remains of metal clasps and catches. The edges decorated in colours using stencils(?). Size: 467 × 320 × 115 mm. Size of leaf: 434 × 296 mm. A few marginal notes in an early German hand in brown ink. In the lower margin of [a2r]: ‘Repositorium Z^um Lit: A. N[H?/ff?]. 9'. On [a4r] a large initial ‘Q' is supplied in pink with acanthus scrolling in a darker shade, on a burnished gold ground, the gilt with punch-dotting, within a segmented frame of red and green and with fine foliate border extensions including gold dotting. Other initials are supplied in red or blue; paragraph marks are supplied in red. Provenance: Wrocław, Silesia, Hospital of S. Matthaeus, 1722; inscription on [a2r]: ‘Bibliothecae Hospitalis S.
