1. V-156(1) Copy The third and fourth sheets of gathering [k] and the first and second of [l] are quarto, the rest folio. The text that should occupy the first line of [b5v] (`Actio rei vendicatiōis eſt quando dicis rem corporalē eſſe tuā. ut hūc') is wrongly printed as the last line of [b6v]. Binding: Eighteenth-century French parchment over pasteboards from which a previous, probably sixteenth-century, Italian blind-tooled calf binding was removed; it had ties at head, tail, and fore-edge, and three-hole lacing tucked under. Both covers bear the faint impression of a large circular stamp containing a shield with the word ‘BIB | LIA' stamped; a stamped inscription runs all around the stamp; the stamp is within a series of blind-tooled concentric frames. Manuscript title in dark brown ink at the head of the spine. ‘2492' in brown ink on a circular paper label at the tail of the spine. Size: 302 × 216 × 60 mm. Size of leaf: 283 × 195 mm. Pastedowns and endleaves consist of sheets of glued, uncut, and folded leaves (not sewn) from an eighteenth-century edition of De l'utilité d'un conservateur prés le cabinet d'histoire naturelle et de physique de Département du Calvados, printed in Caen. ‘699' within a small oval red stamped border in the upper right-hand corner of [a1r]. An auction sale lot number ‘3474' on a slip of paper pasted onto the verso of the front endleaf. ‘M Giraud' in pencil on the recto of the front endleaf. A spider squashed on [g1r]. Initials and paragraph marks are supplied in red; capitals touched with yellow wash.
